THE FINAL PAPERWORK
It’s been a long process leading up to the closing day and most home buyers come to the closing feeling stress over making such a huge purchase and are overwhelmed by the sight of the enormous stack of papers sitting in front of them that they have to sign. These papers are filled with legalese and many buyers barely glance at each form while they sign them, while others find it very frustrating to try to read every page.
Even though you might be inclined to just sign the papers, it is a good idea to check the paperwork and ask any questions you have. Check the spelling of your name, the property address and all the inserted items for accuracy. Since much of the paperwork is prepared on short notice, mistakes are occasionally made. They are usually easier to fix while you are still at the closing table, so don’t be shy about asking questions before you sign on the dotted line.
