SPRING HOME MAINTENACE CHECKLIST
Now that winter storms are behind us, it’s time to get started on your spring home maintenance tasks. Before the weather gets too warm, take a weekend or two and tackle a few items on the checklist below.
Gutters: Winter weather often blows leaves, twigs, and other debris in gutters and can even clog downspouts. Make sure gutters and downspouts are cleared and in good condition. It’s also a good time to make sure downspouts are connected and leading water away from your house and foundation.
Doors and Windows: Spring cleaning your windows? It’s also a good time to inspect your windows for any winter damage. Check seals, caulking, and window screens, and also around all the doors on your home.
Look for moisture: Check your basement, crawlspace, or attic for any signs of moisture or dampness that may have set in during winter. Be sure to quickly address any problem spots.
Change HVAC filters: Change your HVAC filters at the start of spring to keep your heating and cooling systems running efficiently. It’s also the perfect time to have your air conditioning unit serviced for the season.
