HIRING A STAGER CAN BE A GREAT INVESTMENT
Statistics show having your home professionally staged before a sale can result in a high price, a shorter time on the market or both compared to homes that aren’t staged.
But there’s more to staging than simply adding some high-end furniture or chichi accessories; today’s stagers can advise you on paint colors, whether or not to uncover that hardwood floor, which small (and inexpensive) upgrades can offer the best returns and even what room functions buyers are looking for (for example, deciding if it makes more sense in your market to showcase a formal dining room or show it off as a potential home office space). And, stagers can also help you choose painters, landscapers and other specialists who understand how to help a home attract buyers.
Just beware of doing it yourself: Unless you understand what motivates today’s home buyers and how to make the changes that can motivate buyers to make offers fast, you can wind up spending money on alterations that will have little impact on your home’s sale – and may even hinder it.
