HIRE A MARKETING AGENT
The best Realtors in today’s marketplace are becoming more competent in marketing the homes they list to the public, as well as to other professional agents who have potential buyers. One of your most valuable resources will be the agent who can promote your home to a wide audience.
When you are interviewing prospective Realtors to help you sell your home, ask how they locate buyers. In the past, the basic information went into the Multiple Listing Service, and was followed up with a Sunday classified ad and an “open house”. If the house did not sell quickly, the agent might recommend a price reduction. Today’s agents rely on computers, direct mail, telemarketing, and the Internet to promote homes. Ask prospective listing agents for two things–a written analysis of what is happening with housing prices in your area, and a marketing plan which outlines how they would move your home from “For Sale” to “Sold”.
