APPLIANCE SHORTAGE CONTINUES TO AFFECT REMODELING PLAN
The shortage of large household appliances is continuing nationwide. Shortages and delays for refrigerators, ranges, ovens, dishwashers, washers, and dryers have been ongoing for more than a year, and experts don’t see the situation changing soon.
There are widespread reports of three to four-month long delays and backorders of some major brands and products. The issues are a result of several factors, including high demand and manufacturing difficulties, including shortages of computer chips and plastic components. Shipping delays have also compounded the problem.
What are your options if you’re remodeling your kitchen or need to replace an appliance quickly? If you’re remodeling, considering ordering your appliances well in advance, so that you’re not waiting on appliances when the rest of the work is completed. You can also check with local appliance stores as some are putting customers on waiting lists.
If you need to replace an appliance immediately, be flexible when choosing brands, models, and colors. There may be fewer options available from one brand versus another. But make sure to do your research, as some popular brands are made by the same manufacturer.
