FALL MAINTENANCE CHECK LIST
October is always a good time to tackle some home maintenance items. It’s best to take advantage of the milder temperatures to complete some of the outdoor projects listed below. There are also indoor projects that can be done at any time during the fall months.
1. Clear and inspect gutters and downspouts. Clear out any debris, make sure that all of the gutters and downspouts are clear and draining properly. Make sure to secure or repair any loose sections.
2. Make sure to check siding and trim for any loose pieces or panels and make any necessary repairs.
3. Check all windows and doors to make sure they are all sealed properly. Check the weatherstripping and any caulking. Good seals around doors and windows can save on energy bills and protect the window from damage from rain or snow.
4. Have your fireplace and chimney professionally cleaned and inspected.
5. Change your HVAC filters and have your heating system inspected if you haven’t done so earlier in the year.
6. Test smoke and carbon monoxide detectors and replace the batteries.
