CONTAINER GARDENS FOR PORCH AND PATIO
Container gardens are a quick and easy way to create a garden for anywhere in your yard or in your other outdoor spaces. You can use containers to plant flowers, plants, berries, vegetables, herbs or even small trees. Here are some ideas to get started:
* Add instant curb appeal to your front porch or steps. Use matching planters for a more traditional look. To create a more eclectic or informal look with colorful planters in different sizes.
* For colorful displays, select annuals that will bloom throughout the summer months. Some easy-care annuals include petunias, geraniums, zinnias, and marigolds.
* Place small pots of herbs on patio tables or deck railings. Some popular herbs like basil, sage, oregano, and parsley require full sun. Bring them inside in the fall to enjoy in your kitchen year-round.
* For areas of your yard that don’t get a lot of sun, fill containers with shade-loving plants such as coleus, caladium, and colorful sweet potato vines.
* Looking for a sleek, ultra-modern look? Plant a variety of succulents in concrete or faux-concrete containers.
* Small trees or shrubs such as sweet bay, boxwoods, and hydrangeas can be grown in containers and placed on porches and patios.
